Lincoln Family Connection

First, people are always looking into whether or not they are related to Abraham Lincoln. His ancestry may be the most studied of anyone. Unfortunately, Lincoln has no living descendants. Our family had always heard the rumor we were related, but it took us a lifetime to find out if it was true. The last few years I believed it was only a rumor, but my Aunt just discovered we are legit! Thank you world wide web! Without you we'd know so little!

So...how far should we go back? HA Here are the "Cliff Notes." This is the Richard Lincoln home in Swanton Morley near Hingham, England, UK. He begat Edward Lincoln who was born in this house and somehow cut out of his father's will.

Edward begat Samuel who was the first Lincoln in this line to journey to America. Samuel was a weaver who died in 1690 in Hingham, NEW England, USA.

Samuel Lincoln

Baptized: August 24, 1622, Hingham, Norfolk, England

His line of descendants includes Mordecai I (born 1657, died 1727), Mordecai II (born 1686, died 1736), John (born 1716, died 1788) and Abraham Lincoln (born 1739, died 1785), the president's grandfather.

My family branch

We descend from Samuel Lincoln's son Thomas (1964-1715).

Thomas begat Sarah Lincoln (1712-1777)
Sarah Lincoln begat Phineas Pratt (1743-1812) and this is where the Mayflower branch connects.
Phineas Pratt begat John Calvin Pratt
John Calvin Pratt begat Hannah Pratt
Hannah Pratt begat Philip Calvin Shockey
Philip Calvin Shockey begat Myrtle Shockey
Myrtle Shockey begat Gladys Null, my grandmother on my Dad's side.
